The parish council receives most of its funds via the precept, which is collected from households together with the council tax.
The precept normally accounts for 90-95% of the parish council’s income. In some years, the parish council’s income is augmented by grants. Each year, the parish council prepares an Annual Governance and Accountability Return, which is audited externally
